Frequently asked questions ...

Here are a some answers to commonly asked questions. If you require specific information or cannot find the answer to your query, please do not hesitate to contact us directly ...

Q: When is the best time of month and year to come to the centre?

From Spring to early Autumn the weather nearly always provides some clear nights in any week. The Summer months are usually the best as the nights are warm and the Milky Way is at its most prominent. Make sure you avoid the full moon period each month if you want dark skies.

Q: What is there to do during the day?

There are plenty of local walks and we have bicycles for hire. Within a few minutes driving distance you'll find Carcassone the Medieval Walled City, Toulouse by the River Garrone and the Space Museum. A day trip can be taken to the Pyrenees for mountains, lakes and prehistoric caves. The Mediterranean beaches and wine growing regions are within easy reach too. Da Vinci Code locations in this region include Montsegur, Peyrepetuse and many other Cathar Castles.

Q: How do you recommend we travel to the centre?

A number of airlines including Ryan Air, BMI Baby FlyBe and Jet 2 fly from UK airports to Carcassonne, Toulouse or Perpignan. Car hire is available at all airports. We have found Alamo/National Citer to be most competitive. A car is essential to make the most of your holiday as even local restaurants and supermarkets are around 15 minutes away. For those who wish to travel from the UK by car we are only 15 minutes from the nearest motorway junction.
